We are proud to release the 2024 KATZ Estate Grown Chef’s Pick Extra Virgin Olive Oil

21st year of our multi-award-winning oil…quite a tasty journey!

Since our humble beginnings, we always have sought to craft an authentic extra virgin olive oil and to consistently do so year after year. Over that time, we never stopped striving to be better growers, and more importantly, better stewards of the land. And because of that we derive great pride from so many high-end restaurant chefs choosing to use our oils in their kitchens, and to having the venerable and world-famous Chez Panisse in Berkeley, CA make us the first California oil featured in their kitchen, has always been a nice cherry on top, or should I say drizzle.

Now to the reason we are here…KATZ Farm 2024 KATZ Chef’s Pick Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil is now available!

The olives were again pressed at the Frantoio Grove mill under the watchful and keen eye of Patrick Martin. The backbone of this oil comes from the Taggiasca and Casaliva varietals together with our newer planting of Favalosa olives, all grown on our Rock Hill Ranch in the historic Suisun Valley. The blend is finished off with a little Frantoio oil, from Patrick of Frantoio Grove, from this year’s harvest as well.

Tasting notes from Albert and Patrick:

Aroma of green almond and tomato leaf, fresh cut grass, nicely floral, with an elegant, balanced, taste that’s soft up front with mild bitterness and a lightly spicy finish developing toward the back of the palate with a clean, lingering warmth.

The blend will continue to evolve as climate change and small farming in general adapts to meet the needs and challenges presented to us yearly, but what will never change is our effort to craft excellent, high-quality olive oil year after year. Our 40+ gold medals over the last 21 years hopefully stand as a testament to our determination to make sure our name KATZ Farm on the label is your assurance of those ongoing efforts.
